ok, the amp is a LA770 500x2 watt running stereo it can match 2-4 ohm speaker impedance and running bridged it matches 4-8 ohm impedance the reason i was saying//thought it would run @ 8 ohms is because if each coil is a 2 ohm coil.. hooking up series makes each coil a 4 ohm coil (actually combines)... omfg im an idiot.. lol nvm nvm sreten, you are right it will be a 4 ohm impedance because when you hook up series it basically makes one coil out of 2.. so yes lol so briged the amp can match it and will be pushing 1000watts out of both coils(actually a "super" coil, giving that in a series they are made into one). well well i just learned ALOT heh thansk for all the info!

as i was typing the above post i realized why the series doubles the resistance.. because like i said i dont know how many times above.. when you hook up series it combines the two coils adding the resistance together (smacks self again). lol thanks again

i might as well post here.. seeing i cant create my own thread yet 🙁 anyways i have the following copied heh sicne i typed it up and it wouldnt let me post
Ok I dont know if any of you have read my firsts posts::
I have a 15" kicker comp vr Sub woofer, And a 500x2 watt LA770 Legacy amp.
I plan to have both of these in my car.
Ok now for the questions:
1) Im going for the max bass i can get out of this amp (i have nice tweeters and 4 way 6x9's) i have already decided to hook the sub to teh amp setup in series with the amp bridged. Now the problem is..I need to know should i run my amp on FULL, lpf, or hpf
Full i get 0- +18dB @60 hz
LPF runs from 35-400 hz
and HPF uns from 80-2.5k hz
frequency response on my subwoofer is 25-500
spl 1w/1m is 88.5dB
now what should i run my sub on - FULL, LPF, or HPF?
2) What kind of box (in your opinions) would give me the best bass? I was thinking a Slot Ported ( kind of a new design) or if any of you ahve pics of a box or links to dimensions etc.. pls post! thanks.

If the amp is your only crossover type device, then LPF, if it's not and your head unit has some type of control, or you have an EQ system, then I'd run it on full, and see if you can get that 35hz, down a bit lower to the 25hz that your speakers think they can do.
But really, the LPF should work fine..
And isn't there a car audio forum?
