how much electricity do you need to run an esl speaker?

@alexberg, hope ur kidding? if what you were saying were true, there would be the need for only *one* amplifier, and the wide range we now have would all sound identical. Is that the case?

I was just sharing experience of making HV, low parasitics, no nonsense x-formers
And what was a response?
"Yea, but output impedance is so low that crappy X-formers would do just fine: 'cause the distortions of speaker are bigger"

Do Esl speakers require alot of power from the wall. What does the part of the esl electronics that plugs into the wall do?

My Quad ESL 63's claim (on the back) to use a maximum of 1.5 W of power from the wall. But I havent measured it.
