How does the Krell S300i sounds so good such crappy components??

There is a photo of the power amp section. Those black electrolytic caps arent japanese capacitors or anything considered audio grade. Its some unknown brand.

The small elcos on the board are Nichicon VX. The large caps...i really lack the imagination to call them anything as no markings are seen. It is not uncommon for manufacturers to order custom caps, often with no markings. The rest of what is seen of the board looks very decent for equipment in this class. Definitely no "crappy" parts.

A closeup of the caps.

atoll-electronique make decent products and the price is good for products built in France.
For me the problem is the market, some want brands, some want a lot of options, whithout that you can have good enough products, dureable, repaireable but the market is small.
it's the buyer responsability to not supporting low durability or too expensive products.
Save little money and remplace "made in china" by us/eu/jp.
It's slow but i see mentality change, more prone to support non china product, now it's time for wallet education.

Those of us old enough to remember the Gang of Four and the chaos in PRC in the seventies can only marvel at the astonishing transformation of China over the last 30/40 years. I can't think of any other country in human history that has progressed so far so quickly.

They may not have yet reached European or Japanese engineering standards in some fields, but they are catching up quickly. As they say, watch this space...
