Looking for shelving / storage ideas. I know not to lay them flat, and I'm already pretty meticulous about putting mine in sleeves and whatnot. But I'd like to build some shelving for my collection, currently I keep them all in totes that are about 24" deep. I have roughly 400 that I need shelving for but don't want to go to the work of building that and regret not doing something that would make it easier. Considered slide out shelves but this could get spendy, and I'm not sure slide out shelves could support the weight. What hoping to avoid is the nuisance of thumbing through records that are inside a shelf, where I'd have to individually pull each one to see which record it actually is. So... curious what you guys do, if anyone has an ingenious way of doing this.
I have a couple of Ikea Expedit book cases, and a couple of custom made book cases designed specifically for records. Ikea replaced the Expedit with the Kallax years ago which is basically the same thing.

+1 on the Kallax. Just the right size openings. We put 3" wooden feet on the bottom to dress them up a little. Can add doors and drawers as well for mixed storage.
I'm currently using steel wire shelving units that are on casters. This allows me to move them around as-needed, and easily get to them from either side.
all of mine are in those gorilla boxes that look simlar to the ones they use for stage work, and they are very good, you can stack them on top of each other, but if you want easy access i guess shelves are better, these keep the dust out though and away from the air and sunshine
all my 78,s are stored seperatly in simlar boxes
