How Do You Build A 12" Speaker Box

HI I HAVE A 1994 SIERRA GMC SHORTWHEEL BASE TRUCK AND WANT TO PUT A 12" PIONEER 500 WATT SUB-WOOFER BEHIND THE SEAT BUT NEED TO NO THE MEASURMENTS TO BUILD THE BOX FOR IT MY MEASUREMENTS BEHIND THE SEAT ARE ... 9 AND A HALF INCHES IN WIDTH AT THE BOTTOM 3" WIDTH AT THE TOP IT CAN BE 24" TALL AND 42" LONG THESE ARE MY MEASUREMENTS BEHIND THE SEAT. I WANT POUNDING BASS. MY AMP IS 400...100X4CH JENSEN....NOW IS THERE ANYWAY SOMEONE CAN TELL ME WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

What is the model number of the Pioneer driver? Did it come with a specification sheet? Does it have one voice coil or two? Does the manufacturer have any recommendations for enclosure volume or cabinet design (e.g. sealed, vented, bandpass)?

Can your power amp be switched to bridge mode, so it has two output channels instead of four? What is the model number of the "100X4CH JENSEN"? Is it capable of delivering 100 Watts per channel into 8 ohms? 4 ohms? 2 ohms?

Need a lot more info, please.

Well you could have a MDF face and then fiberglass the contour of the truck, that way it will fit perfectly and maximize volume in a tight space.

Someone on here I believe has a real good write up on their web page about fiberglassing...it doesn't look too hard. I think it was a Ford Probe or something.

Basically just put aluminum foil and tape down over the area you want to glass and start laying down the fiberglass....hell you could probably even get away with using thick fabric from the fabric store...in fact I think he mentioned using felt intially, because it was so strong. Then graft the MDF face into it to have a stable place to mount the driver.

please take your caps lock key off... besides making your message very hard to read, it is perceived as shouting...

fiberglassing does take some practise and can be very messy, but it is the kind of thing you need to do to maximize enclosure volume in a vehicle.
