Naw it's fine really.. the more information to soak up, the better!
I was planning on having some DC fans (regular 80mm computer case fans) as well, the Elmo has one for exhaust and I'll probably need a couple for the LCD when I get the whole split fresnel deal going.
I was looking around for power supplies and I happened to find this: Designed for Micro-AT it 's pretty small since if you look at the picture the fan on the back is 60mm. It's also only CAN$5 or US$3.25
You can find info about it here: http://www.a1parts.com/surplus/index.html#50wpsu
The good thing is that this place is in Toronto too.. and they have a store, so no shipping 🙂 I was also planning to get some heatshrink tubing and see what else they have.
I realize you can just pull one for free somewhere, but I like the small size of this one. Let me know what you guys think,

Do these computer power supplies work without the "motherboard connector" connected to anything? Never tried it so I was just wondering.
man, everyone here has a one track mind. a thread can morph into other ideas as it develops you know. it doesnt have to end with the same idea as it started. and.... he ended up going the p/s route. so i guess it wasnt a bad idea after all....

I'm gonna go with the PS for the DC fans, but I'm still going to try to go with the AC fan too since I already have it and it looks like it's gonna move a decent amount of air. I'm hoping to put my ballast and power supply inside the OHP (gonna check temperatures first once I get all the equip) so I want a good amount of air moving through the OHP.

I have the original "big" fan from the Elmo, as in not the regular DC computer fans. I have no clue about electrical stuff so I don't know how I'd go about wiring this sucker up. If you check the PDF file it shows you the two power prongs that you use to power it.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
