no depth perception in heavy fog...and now i'm thinking about gorillas....did i get things mixed up again....until some criteria is developed as to whether form factor or performance is more important to the OP'er it's merely an interesting thought exercise in possibility.

If you say so, having no depth perception I've no clue.

Mixed up?

Anyway, new postings are now addressing the physics of the situation: TA Speaker Topics: Loudspeaker Design Tradeoffs

@franck, what's the size of your barn?
Considering it's volume significantly larger than a livingroom, a front loaded horn or a band-pass would be more suitable than a bass-reflex.

For workout music you should not be concerned about frequencies below 40 Hz, and focus on SPL in the 50-100 Hz range.

OP states: "I like bass." And his barn, and worksite, is closer to 4pi outdoor condition than the rooms most of us are listening in. So too much should be almost enough....besides which 40 hz is the minimum for lf extension. Right, Mr. Steele?
