Hi
I have an old pioneer stereo receiver, dual turntable, technics tape deck and a new Imac computer... I want to be able to send my analog signals from the receiver to my computer for the purpose of recording. At the same time I want to be able to send audio from my computer to the receiver for both playback and recording (tapedeck). I am thinking of getting a usb/firewire interface to work between the receiver and the computer...does this make sense?

Yes it makes sense, I'm presuming the iMac doesn't already have audio in and out?.

Most computers have in and outs, but the ins, particularly, have marginal AD converters. You'll get much better quality with something like the Tascam 144.
