Okay, you want to put mp3's onto a cd so you can play them in the CD player right?
Okay, there are two software packages I know about and use.
These are NERO burning rom, and Easy CD Creator, NERO being nicer with easier use and more robust features for the newer CD burners.
First I must ask, do you have a CD burner in your computer, and if so, did it come with any software?
Please tell a bit about this and then I'll help you further based on what you have.

just another cd-buning software.
ah, ok. Well, I don't know how hard it is to find any of the three, I've always just had them on the drive from when I got a burner or asked a friend for the software.

My WinOnCD was from an old plextor burner - bulk version.

You can download the free trial version of fuerio! to do that.
It's not restricted in any way but there's a nag screen.
It burns only Audio CD's no data Cd's. It has a really good audio editor, one of the best I've used for compilation CD's.

Are you wanting to just burn the mp3s onto the CDR? OR - do you want to make normal CDs from the mp3s?
I dont personally know of any 'free' program that will convert the mp3 AND burn it. You will need to convert the mp3 to WAV first and then burn it as a CD using a normal CD burner program. Try downloading RazorLame from here:
http://www.dors.de/razorlame/index.php
This is a mp3 encoder and also decoder. It should be able to decode any mp3 to a WAV which you can then burn to CDR.

wont i need to convert the wav and could you pls explain the relationship between wav and mp3 and normal cd
i would appreciate it if you could send me a link on the various audio formats i really wanna get to know about them
Most audio burner programs (feurio, nero etc) can burn WAV files into a normal CD format. They do not need converting with any tool/program.
However if the mp3s themselves arent great then the CD wont sound good either.
Cant really explain diferences etc here without it becoming long and complicated - search on google and youll find stuff.

CD music files are .wav files.
Most CD burning software will auto convert .mp3 files to .wav as long as the .mp3 file is of good quality and the file has the proper "header" encoded in the file.
Most, if not all portable .mp3 players strip the header from the file. This makes it impossible to burn the files to a standard CD unless you use software which can re-create the header (such as Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition).

free prog to burn mp3 to audio cd
Dang, I forgot, I use it all the time.
Exact Audio Copy is free (cardware) and will do exactly as you want as long as your burner is supported. Difficult for some to set up, but once set up properly it's hard to beat.
