Finally afternoon.
Making a stew, perfect when it can cook when I'm working.
Pig and cow -bits, garlic, chili and mashed tomatos. Union and carrots in an hour or so.
Shoot from the hip 😀
Now it's afternoon.
Wrong glass, but I think it will work anyway.

@trollet. If you just use the lawn mower and mulch the leaves into the grass it makes a perfect fertilizer. I haven't fertilized my lawn in 9 years because my neighbours maple tree sheds all over my lawn in the fall ,and i just mulch it in to decompose. Come spring it grows like crazy.
Oak leaves seem to work too. Linden leaves, not so much...

I used the tung oil on my cutting board and work boots(as water repellent). Works great!
I find the tung oil has a nutty earthy smell to it.

Lots of extra time in the workshop, time to build a table/workbench a Japanese lantern and a now a little krenov style smoother plane.
Oh and my pistachio slab.

That's just nuts, Paul! 🙂Oh and my pistachio slab.

Something smaller, I moved into this house almost 3 years ago after my 100 year old mother died 12 hours after hurricane Irma. This week I was looking for a stapler and at first found 3 empty staplers and a full
box of 5000 staples. The staples would only fit in one stapler that was next to the box, an ancient ( pre 1960 ) Scout 202 stapler ( see pic ). I put in the staples and they would just jam and not come out. I then looked online to see if I could fix the stapler.
I found this one site that said that they were virtually indestructible as long as you put in the special corrugated staples (see pic 2) and not the regular straight staples which would make them jam.
I guess that back in the 50's my parents bought the stapler and when it ran out of staples they bought the wrong type and just threw the stapler and staples in a drawer.
The correct staples are ACE 7001
I ordered 5000 staples from Staples 3 days ago for $3.50 and $0.25 tax, free shipping.
They came the next day. The staples were delivered from Staples In a Staples van at 11:00 AM.
I now have a 70 year old stapler made entirely out of 18 awg non recycled American steel.
Buy the way, to clear the jammed wrong type staples you just hit it hard and it will cut the jammed staples in half making them easy to remove.
The top-back cover is missing but that is the exact stapler in the picture.
It's amazing that I can get staples that have been made for a stapler model that has not been made since 1975, but I can't get mustard, butter, bread, orange juice at my local supermarket in Florida USA. Of course no paper products.

And, of course, bread is a staple food! 🙂I can't get mustard, butter, bread, orange juice at my local supermarket in Florida USA.
Looking really nice there Paul! 🙂
RJM, seems you have a stapler that will last forever 🙂
I've been busy with all sorts of things, mostly garden work, but I also put my good'ol planer and some elbow grease to the railings on the terrace. Got away all of the paint, except the stuff deep in cracks etc. Oiled it up with boiled linseed like the floor boards.
Digging around in the garden, trying to get rid of some horrible evergreen creeper plant with tubers... Really tough work.
Got a couple cheap 200 liter barrels that I will most likely use for collecting rainwater.

Been oiling the terrace, had a bit left over so sanded and oiled the table as well.
Planted two plum trees and got a proper "morelle" tree (very nice cherries) pictured with the wild cherry tree.
The rhubarb seems to be coming along nicely, pinched the flower buds just after the picture.
Cheap greenhouse is up, and the chillies, peppers and tomatoes have survived the replanting effort.
Saved a branch from my apple tree and attached it to one of the many Rowan trees I have here, it's been able to sprout leaves, we'll see how it goes.
Life is good, and I have proper blueberry (myrtleberry for the un-initiated) wine.
Picture of the wine is from a week or so ago, I'll go grab a glass after I hit "submit reply".

We've restored 2 barns on the property. One to go.
House maintenance is never ending it seems. Always staining something. Enjoyable but costly these days and it's not getting easier in my advanced age.
Not much on beer anymore. This will have to do.

That's hard work indeed, yeah the price hike on materials is nuts.
Contents of the bottle looks real tasty!
I've been oogling the contents of a wood recycling container close to work, there are scraps of untreated ply to be had... Might just show up with a crowbar to pull the bits apart, they've been nice and let me do that before.

I stripped wall paper trim, base coated the walls to cover it and painted more neutral colors.
Before and after.
I also pulled the baseboards and removed silicone adhesive someone had glued them to the wall with, and re-stained them. I had to replace a few sections as well.

Been digging holes to put cables in and holes in my walls to get them through, been working on various stuff for weeks now, nearing two months of hard work after work hours.
Will see about taking some pictures of the living room as well... New grid connection, solar panels, bedrock based heatpump with a 220m deep drill hole +++
Had a few beers late this Saturday evening, but I was so tired I fell asleep sitting, so no pictures of that.
