I have noticed a hotspot on my movie slap bang in the middle of the screen it looks like a reflection off the top of my nview spectra c is there anyway I can get rid of this also while watching a movie I got a very dark stain in the middle which looked like the panel was melting but when i moved it a little off the ohp it seem to stop doing this I am using a 400w bulb in my OHP will a lower stop this from happening lets say a 250w can sum1 please give me advice I am very worried about the dark stain and the hotspot well its bugging me like hell although its not that bad please help.
thanks.
thanks.
Sounds like the lcd in your projection panel is getting too hot from the dark spot you described. Check and make sure the cooling fan in your panel is working, if it has an air filter for the fan make sure its clean. If the lcd screen itself is dirty or has finger prints on it it will overheat with just about any light source. I found this out the hard way. I used a little rubbing alchohol and a soft cotton swab to clean the lcd in my projection panel and it works fine. I found this worked good for removing the oils and grime from the glass on the panel as well.
yep thats what it was would cleaning it with window cleaner be a good idea also any suggestions about the hotspot.
Not sure about the window cleaner, some of that stuff leaves a film behind. I dont know if it will hurt the polarizer or not. In the manual for my Panasonic projection panel it specified carfully useing alchohol and a cotton swab so thats how I have been cleaning the lcd. I have had good results cleaning the glass useing a little dish washing soap and water.
Do a search on the "hotspot" in the forum, there has been some discussion about it before. I have a little bit of one as well but its not too bothersome to me. I think useing a split fresnel was ultimately the the cure for the hotspot, glare, and a few other things like brightness unifority on the screen.
yes ok thnks for the advice i still have a that dark shade on my screen where the panel was overheating while watching a few good men so i took it off and cleaned it it then stoppped happening but for some reson its doing it again the fans are working and i have cleaned it time and time again but no luck also about the split fresnel do you just split it slap bang down the middle or is there a special technique any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.
I have been looking at the fresnel on my Dukane 680, part of it was seperated already, but I think I am going to need a dremel tool and a thin cut-off wheel to seperate the fresnel without crackin it. the fresnel is just glued around the edges but it seems to be faily brittle so be careful if you decide to do this.
It possible that your panel may have sustained damage from overheating before you bought it, I noticed on one of my sharp panels that after it was overheated even after I cleaned all the fingprints off it still would fade out but it took alot longer. I dont think the lcd panels are very resillient when it comes to heat.

ahh right I actually cleaned both sides of the glass of the lcd panel not the lcd in it cause I dont want to open it up and reck it but cleaning the glass seemed to work cause I have not had another stain on it yet but it has made me paranoid cause rather than looking at the film I seem to be looking out for this stain any other suggestions about cleaning it or about the hotspot please feel free to let me know.
thanks for ur advice.
thanks for ur advice.
OHHHHHHH YESSSSSSSS overheating sorted and hotspot sorted the thing was above my bulbs there is a square metal holdall kind of thing that was missing a square piece of glass which was inside the machine but not in this thing so i placed it back on and its now fixed also i kept this running for 45 mins and the panel wasnt even warm so wicked.
grammar?????
Good god man! Are you 12 years old? I don't mean to be a pain here but trying to follow what you are writing is giving me a serious headache....Would using proper punctuation (i.e. a PERIOD) every now and then bust your *** too much? It is beyond me why anyone would post run-on sentences like that and expect to be taken seriously. Do us all a favor and PLEASE use at least semi-proper punctuation when posting here.

Hey ElectroJerk, this isn't really how your FIRST POST HERE should be. I tell you what, stop acting like a "Mister Know-it-all" and don't be so aggressive. Yes, I can agree that skanders may have been a little lazy and could've tried to type his comments a little more "sophisticated" then now, but there is absolutely no excuse whatsoever to jump on him like you just did.
I mean...you are NOT going to get a good "Welcome" here with a first post like that!! 🤐 !!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have other places to be....

Speaking of hotspots, After geetting a new and brighter bulb, I noticed one. I think it's the middle of the OHP fresnel. It's small, and barely noticeable during video playback, but if there's a simple way to get rid of it I'd like to know.
First of all, I do apologize to everyone reading this for the seeming severity of my first post though. It was a knee jerk reaction to reading post after post of that run-on....stuff. I admit it, it is a severe pet peeve of mine. Why does it bother me so? I have an extensive background in language training in spanish, english, and german. I know from both experience and observation that such poor communication skills does not benefit either the "writer" or the "listener". In fact, poor communication skills can make the most intelligent and talented person seem like a fool. As a multiple language teacher, I have spent the better part of 40 years breaking people of bad language habits such as those he chose to express through his laziness in his writing. Old habits die hard, for the both of us. But on the flip side, my post was exactly how I meant it to be. I wanted his attention, and I got it.
In todays world, there is no excuse for that kind of "laziness" as you put it--either in spoken or written communication. The ability to communicate is really THE only sure way we have of exchanging and conveying ideas, to have a "meeting of the minds" if you will. To that end, most adults have learned that the use of proper written text is appropriate, not that run-on crap he was writing. No offense meant, but my 7 yr old niece can write better and more understandable sentences that you were doing. Tell me, what is so hard about adding a period from time to time? Why is that so difficult for you?
I guess one could also read aggresiveness too into my post, but then again i do not go in for all the flowery bs where language is concerned. I don't play games, I just state an opinion. Period. I don't worry about your feelings when i write a post either...if you do, I suggest you need to take some time away from the computer and go outside and smell clean air. One can never truly infer tone from the written text of an email without actually knowing the person in real life....
I am far from a Know-it-all, however all I was suggesting was some proper COMMON use of punctuation. I never said it had to be perfect, I just asked for SOME limited use of punctuation. There is nothing sophistocated about that....if children under 10 can do it, so can he. Obviously this struck a nerve with you. After reading your post, I understand why. You too seem to have trouble expressing yourself in words, as evidenced by your excessive use of smiley icons. If you think using so many of those cute little icons make you look smart, I have news for you, it doesn't. You just look like another person who cannot put into words what you think or mean, so has to use pictures.
While the above was not intended as a flame, but as an explanation of sorts, I can surely see how it could be taken as such. Please if you feel the need to flame, have at me. Forty years of teaching and training have given me a thick skin and I am pretty much done with this thread anyway.

Well of course I have a trouble expressing myself in words! I'm a Swede damnit! 🙂
Anyway ..I just thought that post you made was a little "over the edge", no hard feelings though now that you apologized. I guess I have to apologize too for jumping on you like that 🙄
IT'S ALL GOOD, IT'S ALL GOOD!!

Oh and about these little icons, yes they are so cute and that's why I use them..to create a little more feeling to my boring and awfully constructed posts 😎
And btw..

No offence, but your attitude sucks! (I don't mean to be a jerk I just wanted to express my "opinion")
Note: that was actually a bit of sarcasm as you may have noticed. I was just implying that even if you JUST wrote down your opinions, you could've put it all in a more polite sort of post..
well put!
anyone know of any sites detailing cooling rigs for stripped down monitors? i'm using a benq 557s and that baby is getting hot. I've got a case fan either side of the bulb but need a panel cooling setup. By the by, XGA looks great, i totally recommend it as the next step...........
