I got a hot reflector mailed to me and i was surprised by the darkness of the glass. It looks like that champagne colour - like a very low tint. Are they all like this? I'd like to find one that is totally clear.
It doesnt get hot. A filter that absorbs would.
I held it with steel tongues over a candle yesterday for quite a while. I had my finger on the other side very close <5mm and i could hardly feel any heat. After i took it off i fealt the edges and i could hold it.
Unfortunately its a bit reflective in the visible band which is why it seems to darken anything you look at through it.

I have some 50mm ir mirrors here. They appear to be clear to visible light but when you look at an angle the reflected light has a purple red colour.

That sounds better than mine. How strong does it reflect visible if at all? I can reflect on to the wall when i hold it to a light.
With this one looking through is the colour of watered down 3:1 tea. When i tilt it goes more reddish then greenish at high angles. ???
Where did you get it? mine is the 55x50mm hot mirror from surplus shed.
