Horns Without Proper Placement?

I am looking to put together a new stereo system really cheap (my old one died!) and am drawn to the t-class amps (cause they are cheap). Lots of people seem to like pairing them with loudspeakers based on horn enclosures, but, one of my requirements is that I can point the speakers out the window and listen to the outside. Should I forget about horns? Thank you!

Good horn-enclosures are anything but cheap .. If cheap is your goal, you should forget about them.. They're big too, normaly, so you can not hang them out of the window, easily..
For anything else: horns are the best (my humble opinion ;-)

I'd think of PA speakers or the likes...

Let me be clear: I want to be able to listen to them in my living room and have them sound as good as possible. That's my top priority. But their outdoor performence is also important to me.

From what I've been seeing it should be possible to build a pair of horns for very little money especially if I can scavenge the MDF...

In that case: YES USE HORNS!!! (if you can find a handy mthrfckr that will mill the hornscales for less than no money) ..
I can tell you some handy trick for making nice horns although...
(formula's, excell-sheets etc.. you can find me, i'm sure)

I have dougle-hung windows at my house and the driver on my Fostex FE206E recommended horns is high enough to point them outside for barbeques and parties. Of course they sound better inside, but their loud enough to cover the neighborhood. Build horns and party. This is a great hobby.

T-ube (not cheap), T-ransistor (sounds dreadful if cheap),

How about an "iced t-class" amp? Cryogenic gain stages = lower noise. What does orange-pekoe sound like anyhow? Lipton leads to Leak! 😀

I would guess you know the answer here, but it's the Sonic Impact type of direction. Chip amps of sorts. I know their not all T-amps, but that's the idea. Very clean, extended and smooth. Especially considering the $$.
