Hornloading.

Does anyone have links to using horns to gain higher sensitivity with regards to subwoofers?

I know Bill Fitzmaurice designed the AutoTuba,
but so far it is the only example of hornloading I have yet seen. I guess I am wondering why this isn't more poplular? Is it space? And if so, wouldn't SPL guys be trying to use them?
