Looking at the discussion going about hornspeakers, I am thinking about horn speaker for car application. Advantage will be low power amplifier. But the cabinet will be big.The solution will be making the compact cabinet of -3db response of 60hz. Now how to make the smallest cabinet with 8" woofer. Suggest some woofer.

horns are huge.. my folded horn in my truck is 9.8 cubic feet. I wouldn't go with it unless I didn't want trunk space 🙂

I went to the site. It looks nice. But i will need to buy the speaker which they suggest. Then i can't do anything except the carpenter's work. I will be happy to go through the trouble of designing with the help from fellow members.

A little bigger and dual speakers but the design works great. I've built 3 different kinds. Dual 12 in, Dual 10in and Quad 10in. The last one is whats in my truck. I could post some pics if your interested.

i've done 46x36 (scale factor 1.2 for 2 12 in Rockfords) a 36x30 and a 36x36 🙂 the 36x30 is the double stacked 4 10's.
i want to first make 8" version. If successful, then i will try with bigger versions.

Just model it as a 4th order bandpass, if a speaker works in that alignment, it would work as good speaker for this cabinet. Personally I looked for high x-max and high sensitivity. It is a pretty forgiving design.
people in the deacware forum r making wicked one subwoofer with different size of speakers including even 6" speakers.
They reduce/increase the size of the cabinet accordingly.
So one more thought came in my mind. I recently listened to T18 cabinet in a PA show.
If we make the downsize version of T18 similar to the people doing with decware wicked one,
what is the opinion of the knowledgeable people here about this.

For this horn they hv suggested DHM 108B 10" driver.
I checked the specs of the driver. It has .qts of .618.
This looks very high to me for horn loaded subwoofer.
Comments in this matter is awaited.

FIrst off, from memory, the WO is a bandpass, rather than a true horn.
Secondly, I'm not sure why you would want a bass horn with an F3 of 60 Hz. IME, 60Hz is punchy, but ultimately not deep enough.
Thirdly, a T18 might work in a car, but it ideally wants to be corner loaded. On the other hand, cabin gain might help you. Ask on Bill's forum.
As far as the 8" MCM driver for an auto tuba, it doesn't seem that expensive, .. prob. around Rs. 1000, if you can get someone from the US to get you one (or the equivalent tangband 740 8"). Worst case, you could put it in a small sealed box.
If that won't work, ... from memory again, the key attributes to sourcing an equivalent driver for an autotuba are low Qts (.2 - 0.3), moderately low Fs (high 20s to low 30s Hz), high BL (above 11 - 12), .. and of course Vas somewhere about whatever value the original had. Don't try using just any 8" driver that you find.

You really don't want to design a horn sub without first understanding the principles , compromises and workarounds involved. The program hornresp should prove invaluable.

The decware horn hasnt been modeled, it appears they just reccomend woofers for it by experience and luck. wow thats a short horn above! I had a $20 20watt rms 8" (3.5mm xmax)on a 45hz 200litre horn in a hatchback to test. My RS analogue SPL meter was maxing out on the dashboard(at 129dB from memory)with about 16watts from an old 1980s surround sound rear speaker amp. A 104db/1watt/1metre at 0.5pi space horn,means about 14dB extra dB from the car. It was just a simple spiral folding like the punisher horn
I have an autotube from the billfitzmaurice plan, with an 8 inch tangband.
that cab kicks pretty hard, very clean bass.
it goes low enough i think, tried it with some dubsteb and that was pretty impressive.
just to try out, i also had to connect my huge tapped horn built from Jbells plan in there 🙂, that's just insane it the car, but overall the autotube wins on soundquality, it's clearer and followed quick beats better, the bigger cab seems sluggish in there.

from my testing, full sized horns work best in larger vehicles, vans and wagons mostly, and even then, it seems to vary.
I might chuck my original pioneer folded horn in the back of my VL wagon and see what it does.. seeing the car already has everything else wired up!
