Horn question?

Hi

I have a question on horns and compression drivers. If I wanted to use a horn from say 200 to 10,000 hz, what is the limiting factor - the compression driver or the horn. Let's assume that I had a perfect compression driver, is there a horn design that would work properly over such a wide range?

The horn.

This horn from the mid 1920s has a 1" exit compression driver and a ~40-14 kHz BW that was nominally flat from around 80-5 kHz IIRC: home

200-10 kHz then is trivial, especially if an ideal driver were made for it.

The problem with such a wide BW horn though is one of extremely narrow 'sweet spot' and why a large multi-cell coupled to a huge, truncated FLH was invented: http://www.voiceofthetheatre.com/images/vottcatt1945.9.jpg
