Horizontally arranged monitors - pros and cons?

Aside from the lower overall height of the enclosures, which I can understand why they'd need/want that in a studio environment, what are the pros and cons of this in a home hifi system. Examples being speakers like the Genelec 1234A, Adam A8H, Neumann HK310A...

I can't think of a pro. Con is likely nulls and other artifacts in the horizontal off-axis, which would be left to the vertical if not for the side-woofer layout. The Adam and Genelec look like they probably have low enough crossovers from the woofer to avoid too much of an issue off-axis while the Neumann has a directivity pinch at the 650hz xover (followed by a 1200hz bloom that makes it more of an issue than it has to be, but they do call it a "nearfield" speaker). Neumann is my pick of brands out of the three, for the record, but I'd rather have some other Neumann.
