What is everyone using for hook up wire? I am in Australia and I am not looking for Unicorn Hair. Just cheap preferably Teflon cause I burn stuff
When I need stranded HV hook up I use this exclusively:
PTFE High Temperature Stranded Wire
Every color in the rainbow, good quality PTFE coating, silver plated copper makes it solder really nicely. Cheap shipping too.
Bulk order a couple of hundred feet in a range of colors and you'll have enough left over to be buried with.

i have been using an item like this from this seller for a while. i originally bought it to recable my first pair of headphones but since its silver plated i still use it for hookup wire in my amp. this stuff is stiff as can be but you can bend it and will hold its shape.

Newark.com has an Aust affiliate farnell.com in Sydney. I bought 100' of silver plated teflon insul stranded Alpha wire 20 ga, US$60 a roll, great stuff but expensive. I'm using mostly teflon and kynar insulated wire from electronicsurplus.com, but they are in NY and the shipping may negate any advantage of the surplus aspect. Cheap fuseholders, though, if you can get them in the same box. Use mail, UPS and Fedex customs charges are rediculous.
which ones out of those make for good hookup wire.apexjr is another option, especially if you want harder to find solid core wire (scroll to the bottom of the page).
Sorry, not the bottom of the page - actually near the top. Look for "Solid Core PTFE wire". Either of 22 or 20 gauge will be fine for almost any conceivable signal application. Steve answers his own phone. Give him a call to check what colors are available.

This one I have already purchased, its on the way. how good will it be for hookup - Mil-Spec M27500-22SD2T23 2 conductor 22 Awg Braided Shielded not PTFE. if not for hookup, will it be good for interconnects? I wonder what i will do with 100ft of interconnect wire🙂.
