Home Theater Receiver crossover network

I need help from Home Theater Amplifier gurus. I am building a small system that will serve for music, broadcast TV as well as DVDs.

The Speaker system I a building will consist of the following:

2 10" SB Acoustics SB29NRX75-6 woofers in SIDE mounted push push config 60 liters sealed:

1 5" midwoofer from Peerless, Morel, SEAS or Wavecor

I am leaning towards the Wavecor since it is most easily available in India.

1 B&G NEO 3 PDR tweeter

The Front speakers will be 3 ways using the 10" woofer mentioned above and the center (MTM) and rear (MT) speakers will be 2 way using only the 5" midwoofer and tweeter.

For the front speakers my idea was to Low Pass the woofer at 150Hz and use the output of the woofer (150-500Hz) to compensate for baffle step loss of the 5" midwoofer. This would give me a 2-3db gain in sensitivity for the front speakers.

Since I want to keep the system simple to operate my idea was to find a Home Theater receiver that allows me to sort of bi-amp the front channels. By this I mean I would like to take use the internal amp of the HT/AV reciever to drive the 5" and tweeter and use an external amp (and Low pass filter) for the woofers.

Is there any HT/AV reciever which will allow me to do this?

I am considering a mid priced reciever like the Marantz 5006, Onkyo 809, Denon 2112Ci, Yamaha Avantage A810 or Pioneer Elite 52.

Is this even the right forum to ask this question? 🙂

This forum is more about DIY, but since you are building the speakers... 😉

You need a receiver with pre-amp outputs. The Marantz 5006 has sockets labelled as PRE OUT: FL & FR. These should so the job, as long as you can get an output from them as well as from the speaker output at the same time. Check the manual on this. Most of the manufacturer's websites will let you download the complete owner's manual, e.g.

Look for something similar outputs in the other amps.
