Home built sub parameters

I’m always keen to learn!! Lets say I build myself a subwoofer as in get what ever basket, motor, coil, cone etc…..and slap them together and build a box for it BUT now the question is: How do I know what size box to build?
If I get a box program it requires the parameters of the speaker right?
But I’ve built the speaker myself so no one knows the specs of the speaker,
So if I use the daytonaudio DATS V3 that should be able to measure and give me the parameter data of the driver?

Am I on the right track?
Cheers

Yes, indeed! It is always better to measure yourself, anyway. Factory parameters can be off a great deal, for many and varied reasons. The wonderful thing is that today, tools like the Dayton device are available... much faster than the old multimeter, test tone generator techniques.

Yes building the driver, I repair speakers in my field of work in pro audio like recons and amp modules etc…. I was going to even make the motor myself but getting access to a metal lathe is a bit hard for me. All in good fun and experimenting, always good expanding my knowledge 🙂
Just doing some research before I fork out on test equipment.
I may do a build video too
