I recently bought a 3M projector in need of a new bulb for £105. I was unable to fork out £350 for the new bulb, however I had been inspired by seeing this forum before and felt able to tackle anything that came my way.
I discovered that my exact model was also made as a Hitachi and several other makes, and managed to find replacement bulbs for the hitachi model at £130. I ordered one and awaited its arrival.
Once it came, it became very clear that the new bulb did not fit in the space intended, and that the power connector was a)in the wrong place and b) the wrong shape.
I read several posts re 'trimming lamps' and set to work. I first trimmed the plastic cradle so that now it slides into the slot snug as...then I used all of my electrical prowess to remove the two misfitting connectors and replaced them with a 15A block connector (the simple and cheap solution I hoped) and linked the cables between PJ and bulb this way.
While I had envisaged my operation being a complete success, the PJ had other ideas and still maintains the bulb is missing every time I turn on the power. The lamp warning light comes on and stays until the power is turned off again.
Any suggestions are welcome, tell it to me straight Doc...
