Could be... I've build tetrode amplifiers, but never messed around with "Schade"... I usually just use gNFB... and not very much of it. I think my monoblocs have about 8db of gNFB...

What?
You have your opinion. I have mine.🙂
They cannot be in my system somewhere in there room. My speakers have to be as compact as possible for the task. In one piece. So subs are out!
Glad you mentioned that. Opinions aside and as far as I'm aware, we are not talking about your requirements here.
To me it is clear that tube amp (with budget output transformers) plus a solid state subwoofer is the easiest to implement, and biggest bang for the buck.

The easiest to implement would be a sound bar... 😀
Personally, I don't think a separate subwoofer off in the corner belongs in the "hi-fi" category. Usually ok for Home Theatre though...

That's because you cannot to build a proper 25W amp for $300 using commercial components of good quality. A pair of 18-19W sweep pentodes x channel can actually provide easily up to 80W and are cheap in the $5-10 range each. Maybe $15 each the most sought after types. Two Edcor CXPP25 PP output transformers cost $120-140 in total. And then $100 bucks for the power transformer and the another bits. That's it!
I do not think that a proper mono subwoofer + solid state amp + a small power tube amp are going to cost less. Plus mono subs are definitely not HiFi.
Class D amp kits
Hey, do you have any good kits with the Wondom amp you recommended? Judging by the pic of the board online, there’s a lot more components I would need in order to turn this into a stereo receiver. Do you know where I could find kits, or build plans? I made a similar post in the class d section, but it doesn’t seem to be as popular. Haha. Tha ksI use wondom aa-ab32313 amp pcb <snip>
I have found if you want 100watts + The amps use 811a's where used for recording cutting.. Russian or USA made 811a last a very long time. The output transformer is 1.5 K or 2200 P-P Any 100 watt amp is costly to make. Using kt88/6550 you need to replace tubes very often,. the Russian 811a can last 20 years if you look after the tubes Circuit won't load will try later
811 a circuit
you need to leave out the parts for record.
I use a solid state Power supply

Please open thread in the class d section. Discribe what you want to build. But try to learn basic electronics first. There are no kits. But assembling ready made PCB's can get you a nice amp.Hey, do you have any good kits with the Wondom amp you recommended?

If you do it right it can be done. Efficient speakers and less than 10W per channel SE. With the sub, you no longer need Edcor CXPP OT. XSE will work fine for $25 a piece. Use Antek iron for PT @50VA for $28...Two efficient FR speakers in simple closed or BR boxes. You get the idea. Maybe you can't get there, but I think I can.

Efficient speakers that can rival the KEF LS50 + a good 25W amp in terms of sound quality are going to be quite expensive and won't be small! If quality and size have priority then at reasonable price efficiency and the first bass octave are the first things to go and one has to settle around 85-86 dB if size has not to be too big.
Efficiency is inversely proportional to the moving mass and proportional to the square of the product of cone area and BL. There are no little efficient speakers even if satellites + subs.....
A TABAQ with 4" driver will be 86 dB efficient if close to the wall and will start to roll-off at about 55 Hz. That's already a compromise. You go for something like an Alpair 10P for getting maybe one more dB but the size of the speaker and the cost of the driver spoil it. You can find a pair LS50's in the used marked at around $500 in mint condition.
In the end there is some minimum amount of money you need to invest for getting a certain quality. There is no escape. Anything costing less is going to be lower quality or you have to be lucky and get it for free or almost...
Quite the hornets nest I’ve stirred up. After digging around online, and listening to all the help on here I think I’ve decided to go the route of a Class D. And possibly build speakers. Then I would suggest starting with something like this and going from there.

See if these are still available half price. I can attest to their ability to shake the mounting bolts loose in my speaker cabinets. 600 watts will do that.

In your place I would go around and listen to something instead of relying on opinions. All I have written in this thread is an average generic situation. I perfectly understand pblix and others. I listen myself MOST of the time to my favourite 45 PP amp that can only deliver 5W in class A with 86 dB/1W (true efficiency) monitors. However I also have powerful amps and other bigger speakers for those 1-2 times out of 10 where I want to listen to symphonies or big Jazz bands etc. at louder levels.
P.S.
Also, if you build your speakers then you can make them with good efficiency. Getting true 89-90 dB/1W is not too difficult but no tiny drives.....
Then in that case a 8-10W amp might do well.
