High quality CD-ROM drive for ripping to FLAC

Hi all

I have just started ripping my CD collection to FLAC and really want to be sure I am achieving the best quality rip.

I have been using EAC (Exact Audio Copy) with the autoflac plugin. After replaying some of the FLAC files I have noticed there are tracks with the odd pop and click.

Can anyone suggest a way of eliminate this and is there a CD-
ROM drive currently available that is reputed to have the best transport?

I cannot help you with a solution to your 'clicks'problem but I
can give useful advice on cd rom or cd burners.
Any of the Plextor cd writers will do an excellent job for your
requirements.
The plexwriter is readily found on ebay at quite reasonable prices
but you are buying something that is used so there is always a
small risk of buying a dud or unacceptable wear and tear.
The plexwriter II unfortunately is only available in Europe
at SERIOUSLY high prices - both are superb.
This is what I have and and it is worth the money

Buy 2 of them so that you get your moneys worth because postage
will be around $40 -50 US for 1 item, the second item can be

Hi John

Thanks for your advice. I owned a Plextor CD-RW drive many years ago and it was reputed to be the best quality then.
