High efficient closed 2(.5)-way system

Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a new loudspeaker project. Untill now I've been playing with a 2 way BR monitor, with SS units. Because I'm changing to a tube amplifier I like to build someting a little more efficient. Have looked at various kits and designs but haven't found the right thing I guess. The new loudspeaker should be a monitor (2 or 2.5 way). I'm planning to use an active sub with it.

What I would like is:

1/ top quality units, now I'm using a 18W8546 and Revelator tweeter
2/ closed system, not bass reflex
3/ effeciency around 92dB for 2,83V/1m
4/ flat imp min 4 ohm
5/ f3 of around 80-100 hz is low enough

Like this one, very nice I think, but can't contact the owner ...

Can you come up with more ideas?

Ralph

Send Andre an email for high sensitivity design suggestions,
maybe he can brew something together.

Hi thylantyr,

I did and he came with the following suggestions:

1) 2x PHL 1120 + G2 in closed box. F3 will be around 250 hz. So in that case I need a basssystem, like a one with a Lamba TD15 you wrote about.

Question about this configuration. I read in another thread that the TD15 is not very efficient in a closed box. Is that true? In that case I need to drive it actively.

2) 2x PHL 1240 +G2 in closed box. F4 will be around 90 hz. In that case I need a powered (sub)woofer crossed over at around 90hz.
