Hello amp powers up but its in protect and has no output.
Shorted outputs or faulty protection?
Thinking about buying this amp just want a heads up on what I may be getting myself into??

The two 1D transistors on the driver board are the most likely suspects. Let me know if you need a photo.
About 50% of these that I get in are exactly what Perry says. You can replace em without pulling the driverboard (it's tricky, but do-able). Even when they aren't bad, I still put fresh ones in.
Thats how I did the BX2005D we worked on was stood the amp on end so I didnt have to remove the board again it was easy that way.

Perry, wondering if you could post that photo of which two 1d transistors they are. The last hifonics I worked on I replaced them all and I dont want to replace unecessary parts.
Is it a good practice to replace them all of just the two you mentioned?
I bought the amp, "should" be an easy fix!!
Theres 5 1d's on the audio board I was wondering which two are the common ones to go out?
The last amp I just replaced all of them including the 2d's and one of the op-amps.
I guess I will just replace them all.

The only parts that I've seen fail are the two 1D transistors in the rectangle. I've heard of other 1D and 2D transistors failing but have never seen it. I've heard of 2 instances where a TL072 has failed but have never seen one fail myself.

The brutus 1208 you just helped me on had a failed op-amp. I replaced all the transistors on that board. I also replaced the one op-amp.
Why is it that just those 2 fail, and why does that cause protection?
Replaced just the 2 and the amp performs flawlessly and sounds amazing.
Thanks Perry and timwebb.
