That's about what I'd expect, 10v of drive.

Power supply is working correctly now .

All of the outputs and audio driver board are removed from the amp since they were defective .

If I install the rectifiers the amp starts drawing excessive current .

All of the rectifiers rest fine on diode check

Any ideas on what to check since the amp will draw excessive current when the rectifiers are installed ?

Shorted rail caps?

Rectifiers in the wrong locations?

Ok I pulled 1 of the rail caps and found a burnt trace .

Someone tried repairing the trace and soldered the positive trace and the negative trace together .

Something still isn’t right with this amp .

I installed the rectifiers and pulled all of the rail caps off the board .

With no rail caps install the amp will power up and idle .

If I put the rail caps in the amp it will draw excessive current . I even took caps from another board to test and same thing the amp will draw excessive current .

Any ideas ?

Is the polarity right for the caps and rectifiers?

Yes .

I think I found the problem . There are 8 more caps that sit in front of the outputs

I think all of those caps are shorted .

If I install the rail caps and leave those caps out the amp will power up fine .

It would be VERY odd for multiple caps on the same rail to be shorted. If one shorts, it protects the others.

I bought new caps and got the amp powered up without drawing excessive current .

I forget tho is the 640’s on the negative rail ?

Yes if the drains of all output FETs go to the output inductors. Post a photo of the driver board if you have any other questions.
