The obvious cheap and easy upgrade to try on this unit would be replacing the (socketed) ne5534 opamps with something else.. any ideas on a good drop in replacement?
Hi, we will use OPA134 next.
I just got some OPA134 chips from ebay and put them in, sounding good so far! A drop in replacement.
mods
I added 10uf tantalum bypass cap to LM317 adjustment pin for better ripple rejection,
as recommended in LM317 datasheet:
http://www.acoustica.org.uk/t/images/317-2.gif
Also added 0.1 uf MKP bypass caps to power supply capacitors and replaced OPA2134 with LT1469 and OPA134 with OPA627. I didn't listen to the stock
version, but this sounds very good 🙂

Can owners of this DAC make a comparison with other DACs even more expensive?
Not I, everything else I have available is cheaper! I would be curious to know how it stands up though, as well.
You are right! But after TA2020 nothing amazes me no more! Not I, everything else I have available is cheaper! I would be curious to know how it stands up though, as well.

I've had Yulong PCM1702, Audiophonics PCM1796, Super Pro DAC CS4398 and Hifidiy TDA1543. I think CS4398 and this (with op-amp mods) are the best I've had.
One weird thing.
I have left both jumpers (J3, J4) open, to 8x speed mode(44.1kHz or 48kHz).
When I have 44khz input, my FM radio losts signal!
But with 48khz input this does not happen.

Hi!
I get this DAC. It has OPA134 and OPA2134 opamps. All is OK. But analog output level is low approx -6db.

I don't quite understand FM lost signal, may be you can set it to be 4x mode and have a try.One weird thing.

Yes, hope that not trouble you😱Hi!

Apart of this issue, what do you think about the SQ? Can you compare it with some other devices?Hi!

When I am switching between DAC and analog sources on my amplifer it is a problem: differences in volume level is very noticeable. Other DACs I hear before have normal output level.
What is the "SQ"?Apart of this issue, what do you think about the SQ? Can you compare it with some other devices?
OK.Sound Quality?
I use this DAC only for 3 days. Then I return to previous DAC, as I was annoyed with the need to change volume level every time after switching to other source. So I don't test DAC thoroughly and can not say about quality of sound.
