Hi all,

I just joined this excellent forum, but have read it the last couple months.
I am a student industrial design at the technical university Delft, Netherlands.
I have some experience with building audio (active crossover, speakers, headphone-amp and modifying). At the moment i am collecting parts for a Death of Zen. I think making this amp is a good testcase for making a Aleph later.

Thx to all active forum members for there questions and answers!

Welcome Menno,

Please forgive us, there is quite a bit of emotional stuff going on right at the moment. Hopefully things will settle down soon and we can get back to the real reason we are here. Glorious sounding, good looking gear we made ourselves.

Menno welcome,
Many moons ago I studied Industrial Design in Delft as well.
Even graduated with the design of a valve amp enclosure.
Though I wasn't all that impressed at the time, in retrospect I am very happy with what I learned there.
That is when we weren't in Id-cafe, de V or at the Wijnhaven.:drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

Thanks for all welcome-words!

peterr, i am glad to hear you have had a good time in Delft, like i am having now 🙂 i understand the unimpressed feeling about industrial design, it is nice that there are more places you can learn something (like on this forum!)

Hi Menno and welcome🙂

I have spent a lot of time in Holland, and enjoyed myself greatly there, but I don't think I have ever been to Delft, do they have a big pottery business there still?

Enjoy the forums, but bear in mind Halojoy is the voice of Zen/Surrealism DIY, something we all need at times😉

Not the whole truth but almost the whole truth
And something But the truth.
With the help of God
that was quite easy to correct,
I was being the editor.

Do not beleive everything you read,
not even here
So help us God

I think pinkmouse
was mixing me up with another old member
Nelson Pass - he makes them Zen(tm)Amplifiers
you will catch it by tomorrow, no worry Menno

Howdy Menno and Welcome

Death of Zen is at the top of my shortest list of future projects, so I for one would very much appreciate it if you would well document the making of your DOZ.

Just a side note ..... a few nights ago I dreamed that I was :drink: around a campfire with Nelson Pass and Rod Elliott. I kept trying to pick their brains about electronics, but all they wanted to talk about was women.

I guess Nelson and Elliot have a different 'view' on audio, i started DIY with the view of Elliot but i am more open minded now, because of all the enthousiast people on this forum.
The DOZ is a easy amp to make from surplus components so why not? I would like to compare a DOZ with a Pass amp. The pass (pass-type actually) amp is going to be a Aleph X but this is for next year!

do they have a big pottery business there still?

Yes they do, one day i am going to make a ceramic heatsink, delftblue (for worse heat radiation or......
😉
