Hi,
Ive been reading the forum for a few days and decided to register. I really want to make an OHP tv projector because the results of other peoples look great! and i really cant afford to buy a 3000$+ unit. Now what i need to know is what all i need, So far what i have observed is i need an overhead projector, a projector panel, and something to project it on (wall, screen, etc...). Is this all that i will need to input dvd, videogames, etc..? I know i need a projector panel with composite in, and if im getting the concept these are the only 3 things i really need. Thanks in advance or your guidence. Also if anyone can recommend a panel.

Spot on!

Right-o'! That's all you need.

Remember that the quality of your picture is going to depend on the brightness (and optics) of your projector, and the resolution/refresh rate of your panel. 640x480 is acceptable for myself and many others on this forum, but 800x600 or 1024x768 is more for the die-hard types. 🙂 I just care about a decent picture that's large, and any of these options look alot better than rear-projection big-screen TV to me. 🙂

Thanks for going about the building process the right way! 🙂 It's a joy to answer questions from people like yourself.

wow

wow, that was a great response thanks! I was expecting to get flamed! But now i must sit... and wait.. to find a cheap panel on ebay.. and a OHP, but im sure it wont be as hard to get for cheap. I will let you know my progress. Thanks!

The major things to look for in an LCD panel are resolution, contrast ratio (very important), active or passive (must be active) and refresh rate. Resolution is sharpness, contrast is difference between dark are light portions of the image and refresh rate will determine whether or not you have any blurring during high action shots. Also, not all LCD projection panels are color, a good number of them are monochrome. Always research a panel before bidding.

thanks

Yeah, ive tried researching most panels. But i found it very hard to get much information. I would post the wanted auction here but dont want the competition of "lurkers". I guess i will have to research alot before any are up for bids so i know ahead of time.

Thanks for the info!

P.S. does anyone know of anywhere that has the specs of each panel? if not we should compile one, for ebays sake.
