o, I managed to get all kinds of used goodies: A Dynaudio Esotar2 1200 subwoofer, Esotar2 650 woofer/mids, ScanSpeak illuminator tweeters, and a pair of Morel Ultimo TSCM 634 midranges. I've also got a SB Acoustics with a much smaller sealed box (nothing built for the 1200 yet), a JL Audio RD900/5 amp (bridged, powering the Morels and Scans in parallel, with a Clarity-Cap protecting the tweets), the little sub plugged into the sub channel, and a JL Audio RD 400/4 collecting dust until I get the wiring done and I can tune everything with the Audiotec Fischer Helix3 DSP, Director, BT unit, and its calibration mic and software.
I also have two Kenwood Excelon media players, for my Highlander, and my older CR-V (my beater). I want to make sure my wife has the most phenomenal-sounding system.
I realize the JL's are probably the bottleneck of all this, and eventually I'm going to obtain Morel Piccolos and Dynaudio Esotar 110 tweets. Question is; do I put it all in my wife's Highlander (rear fill), or would I be wasting good equipment that way for little return? Custom enclosures, or angled ABS enclosures with Dynamat in back of them? Any other polite advice would be GREATLY welcomed! Thanks guys!

Should I use the speakers all in one vehicle, or best to pick one set for each car, as there would be a steep point of diminishing returns using all speakers in one car (one set in the back seat for rear fill).? Or, should I pick one set; the Esotar2's and eventually the esotar2 110 tweets, all in the front (except for the 1200s, which of course will go in the back in a BassBox Pro enclosure I designed, OR use the Morel TSCM 634 mids in the front, and either the ScanSpeaks or the Morel Piccolos if I can find them? In these alternating schemes, the mids would go in the doors, and the tweeters in the A-pillars. In either event, I will tune the system with the Helix DSP3 and its calibration mic I purchased for it. I suppose the most pressing question is: The Dynaudios or the Morels, if we have to pick one question?
For the best quality, you typically want one speaker producing any range of frequencies for each channel. This is for the highs. Multiple subwoofers in an enclosure aren't an issue.
Hi Perry! Thank you very much for your reply! I think I failed (again!) to articulate my questions in a coherent manner. In my defense,, I have COVID (Delta variant) and am also babbling verbally as badly as I am in writing. 🙂 Basically, my problem is this: I've managed to procure some great speakers, and really should make a decision about the best set to use. For subs, I have an SB Acoustics 10" 3-ohm DVC one that I was initially going to put under my seat. That failed. It's a great-sounding little guy (from Madisound), BUT, when I saw the Dynaudio Esotar2 1200, I thought "I must have that!" and got it for $600 from a really great guy who I'm sure could have asked more for it. Next came the Esotar2 650s, again for a steal ($550/pair). The whole thing had started with the Morel TSCM 634 midranges, the SB sub, and the Scan-Speaks. At the moment, the Morels are in the door, electronically crossed over at 180Hz high-pass at 18Db/octave, the ScanSpeak tweeters are in the dash, in parallel with the Morels, with a Clarity-Cap cutting them off at somewhere around 5kohms @ 6db/octave (passively). Soon, I will have the other, smaller amp powering the tweeters, and both amps will be hooked up to the Helix DSP, using its incredible software and calibration mic, getting electronically crossed over at the appropriate points (A JL Audio RD900/5, with 4 channels bridged and feeding the mids, the 500 watt 5th channel going to the sub, and the JL Audio RD400/4 bridged and feeding the tweeters. Both amps, as I mentioned, will get their input signals from the DSP, and the DSP will get its 3 pairs of RCAs from the head unit (5 volts from start to finish, of course).
So, if I go with the Morel mids, it will be providing everything from about 150Hz to a natural upper rolloff, and the Scan-Speaks will be providing about 2500-up. Hopefully I can find a pair of used Piccolos to go with them one day if this ends up being my choice (Morel). They're closely matched in efficiency, but the Helix will get them dead-on with that, time delay, response curve, etc.
I will almost certainly be using the Esotar sub. That will, of course, require a much more substantial amp to get that right. Meanwhile, I'll use what I have. With that in mind, I'm tempted to go with the Esotar 650 mids, again in the door, but electronically crossed over their Fs, and probably letting them roll off naturally as well. I'll have to take a closer look at their on and off-axis curves to determine what's best in that regard.
The Scans will be doing the same thing I'd have them do as with the Morels, until/unless I'm able to find the Esotar 110 tweeters at a good (used) price.
So this, in my long, rambling way, is my question (s): If you had both Morel TSCM 634 midranges (keeping in mind, these are strictly midranges, not midwoofers (underhung VCs) and MUST be rolled off at 150 or more, steeply) AND a pair of Dynaudio Esotar2 650s, and you wanted to choose which to put into your doors (firing towards the people, using those ABS things that Ebay sells), then later replacing the Scans if/when you find their "matching" (but pricey) tweeters, which would you go with, and why?
Even without the DSP, the Morels and Scans sound phenomenal, but the "more is better" part of my head thinks "you might be missing something truly phenomenal". The Esotar is their top of the line, and Bugatti chose Dynaudio for the sound for its 18 million-dollar super sports car. I've always heard that drivers get no better than Dynaudio (since I first started dreaming of them in the mid-70s), but I could be wrong. They're all just simply beautiful speakers!
I was hoping to start a discussion about all this, hoping I could ask more questions as this progresses, but I guess the very first thing I have to do is make a decision about which set to mount. The tweeters are where they need to be, but the Morels are 6", and the Dynaudios are 6.5", so once the cutting starts, I'm committed.
