Hi everyone,
I'm a recently retired engineer in Surrey, UK. After a PhD in engineering I undertook a few years of basic research before moving on to product development. Great fun it has been too, particularly in the early days when there was a lot less bureaucracy. Engineering can be very rewarding as results are tangible and suits a tinkerer like me. I also had the opportunity to work with a large variety of specialists so picked up all sorts of hopefully useful info along the way.

My main hobby is speaker building. I've been fascinated by speakers ever since I can remember and have been constantly amazed by the ingenuity of diy'ers out there. Its really amazing how many subtleties there are in speaker design so hopefully all that info gained at work over the years will come in useful.

Modern design and test tools are very powerful which makes the efforts of the old timers all those years ago so incredible. Speaker building also enables me to indulge in a bit of woodwork so the hobbies are complementary. Dreaming up novel horn foldings etc sure beats Sudoko!!

I'm currently under intensive training by my Border terrier puppy (present from the kids) so the waf is nearing its limit. Having put hobbies on hold for the last few years due to pressures of work I can now indulge myself a bit. I feel a huge gratitude for all the help freely given on the net in forums like this. Hopefully I can put something back in due course.
Regards Tom
