What type of tube sounds really good?
What is the best tube of the planet?
Some guys have a lot of years experience and don't really know what
exactly type of tube needed to built that ultimate amp.
They tried EL34,6550,2A3,300B,but all this amps have a few watt's.
I know, this amps sounds good but not really good.
For more power some tried to put 2 or more tubes replacing the "guru tube",but these is distortion and all that stuff.
I think the best way to have 50-100Watt is to do a class A with one or two tubes and these are GU50,70,81,GM 70,71,because POWER IS BACK and need to feel music first.
What do you think ?
Some links?

As someone listening to 12W i can agree that power has some attractions. But instead of pursuing difficult high-voltage solutions i would rather go for PP. Anything wrong with an 845 PP?
hmmm
if you think about it, you only need power for woofers
midrange and up is usualy fine with 10-20 watts
why dont you biamp it with powerfull solid state for bass and use highly refined classA tube for mids and hights
that way you will feel the power and sweet se tube sound as well
many has done it this way including me and love it

This is exactly the way i went
Martin Logan Monolith III
Woofer 12ins driven buy Threshold s300 optical (with extra power supply box of 125000uf) from 28hz to 125hz
The ELS treble pannel is driven from 125hz to20k by my 50watt 805 set mono blocks
This setup has yet to be beaten to my ears, it has bass slam that you feel, transient attack that snaps your head back, yet can be as delicate as a butterfly when needed for strings and female voice.
My 2cents worth Cheers George

Have you thought about PP GM70? Would be pretty powerful and light up nicely, too 😎
I don't really know much about the other Russian type valves.
