Hi, and thx to all in this forum that got me going on the "diy" projection panel thing.
I recently picked up a Spectra Pro, and Elmo 305SD which I got up and running today. I know, not so much diy as plug and play, but I'm not looking to get into a project right now.
Anyway my first test went well only being able to project up to 64" diagnal due to windows being everywhere and not having a screen yet.
The OHP might be overkill for this type of setup. Its 575 watt mh seems to wash out alot of color, giving an overexposed look to most every scene. maybe this will fade when I get more distance between it and the screen, and block some of the leaking light.
As for the panel, it does its job pretty well. Picture quality is what I expected when it comes to resolution. Color is a different story. I'm having a bit of trouble getting away from green. Seems no matter what I do Scenes end up too green. I've tried windows color correction, played with the color in PowerDVD, and the Panels Video color button doesnt do much of anything. Again this might be nothing as my test movies were The Matrix and FOTR, but if anyone wants to give a shot at whats causing it, I'm all ears.
I'll let you know if I cure my problems when I get a real screen. I'm thinking 8 foot cheapo tripod mount for portability, and the extra couple feet will be nice if I upgrade.
To conclude, so far, I'm happy with what I got for $250 USD. It doent get much easier. the only hard part is tracking down what you want.
Thanks again diyaudioers🙂
