Hi everyone, I am a keen music fan and have a wish to build something of my own in the near future (rather than buying off the shelf). My first step is to do some reading round here to find out some information to get me started. I hope its a fruitful time 🙂

Hello - and Welcome to diyAudio!!!! 😀😀😀

DIY is great fun (wellllllll - it is for me) or perhaps I should say that it "CAN" be great fun - if you go about it the right way. Getting off on the wrong foot can be really frustrating. There is the challenge of learning a bit of electronics - getting some tools together - perhaps some test equipment - doing some study on what you want to build 1st - etc. For some folks it can be so time consuming and intimidating they just wind up getting tired of it all and give it up.

That's why old farts such as myself (and many others) are very willing to help newbies find their way along the various paths and waypoints and we really do get a great deal of enjoyment from helping out - thus never be shy about asking for advice - there is plenty of it around.

My I suggest that you determine what sort of project you want to take on 1st - say making some speakers for example - and focus in on that subject before getting into another one. Just like when you started off in school - ya gotta learn your ABC's before you can spell - and ya gotta know how to spell before you can write. 'N ya can see juz how well I done and school 'N I can still put sum of dis stuff tagether!!! 😀😀😀
