Hi,
I am about to embark on renovating a pair of HB3 series 2.
The bass drivers are 10", one of which requires replacing.
Any info on suitable replacements and where they can be sourced will be gratefully received.
Regards
Demu

I bought some Peerless Kevlar mids off a seller on eBay, who stated they were originally designed for the Heybrook HB1 or 2.
I contacted Heybrook, who promptly replied with some information about them, perhaps go to the source and ask them?
If you can work out the volume of the enclosure and if its ported or not im sure some more knowledgable people will be able to offer some advice.
Good luck

Heybrooks HB1 and HB2 originally (when built in the 80ies) did not use Kevlar Chassis. It was a Vifa (or Seas) for HB1 and an Audax for the HB2. The three-way semi-floorstand HB3 was different in several stages of development. Pleas ask Peter Comeau in person and more starting here:

@lohk - the HB1 used Vifa M21WG9-8 mid woofers - by chance I have the corpse of one sitting behind my chair 🙂
Original Heybrook speakers were simple but good - I sold many of them during the eighties. The HB1 is a true classic - inspite of humble looks and similar construction it blew away musically so many more audiophile designs (in those days).
@demu: Peter Comeau is one of the chief engineers with IAE - a chinese company who revivens several british brands like Quad, Audiolab, Mission, etc.
Any british hifi-shop with tradition should help with your query. Have you btw asked the people at wilmslow audio yet?

Hi,
Yes I have emailed wilmslow amd madison. Also making enquiries to see if original drivers can be repaired.
I have been since told that it is a 10" seas driver for the bass, but now trying to source.
