The first thing you have to do is figure out how you will power this application. I am speaking from a USA perspective. If you live in a part of the world where 220-240VAC is normal, this does not apply but the idea is the same.
1. Most outlets are 15 amps (in the USA). Max power from that circuit is 1800 watts (120v * 15A)
2. There are 20A outlets but most are located in the kitchen area. Max power is 2400 watts for those circuits. (120V *20A)
So, unless you have more than one circuit at your disposal, 1800 watts is all you get to work with, typically.
Huge power for sub woofers is best done using more than one power amp and 220V, IMHO. One HUGE power amp is possible but may not be cost effective. Again, this is a USA perspective.
