Wish I could say I was a newbie. My lack of skills make me feel that way. I have been tinkering with Audio electronics for a long time. 3 years away from it and I am very rusty. I have people that have high expectations that I can't meet. I love electronics and want to increase my skill. I am sick of guessing the problem and want to learn how to properly diagnose systems. Please point me in the right direction.

Help.
I scraped through some minor service and am now prepared to begin learning.
In front of me I have A kickerIX1302 Car amplifier.
I was told that it kicks out but that is not the case at least in my preliminary test. When I power it up, the Led dims almost once per second. A very faint thump occurs in sync from speaker outputs. My supply voltage was unaffected staying at 14V. Inside the amp apears OK with exception of the amp getting very hot near three Caps.

Nevermind! I looked around the scorched areas and found a resistor had come loose. Knowing I can count on DIY members is what gave me the courage to attept it. Thank you for that.

I goofed on the link I posted earlier - it should be http://www.repairfaq.org/sam/tshoot.htm
This link will help with the troubleshooting much more than the other one!!
Good to see that you know one of the first rules of trouble shooting - visual inspection. 😎

Have a Kenwood KAC-629S. Powers up OK. Sound is weak a little distorted. It has two A1908 transistors and two C5100 transistors. I could probably check them but not sure where to find type NPN or PNP nor do I know where to find a diagram. Which legs are E, C or B. Unless I should be checking something else!
