I‘m trying to wire out the balanced inputs of my KGSSHV amp to a quad ALPS pot but I’m confused on how to do this right.
I’ve attached a schematic. I take +/- of each XLR input and wire for instance + to Input A, - to Input B of the ALPS pot. The output goes to OUTA, OUTB respectively.
Problem is I get a full signal out but I’m unable to attenuate the volume so there must be a thinking mistake on my side.
Do you know where I might be going wrong?

Make sure you are using pin 2 for output. If you are using pin 3 you won’t have much affect on output level. To test this turn the pot all the way up and if it goes quiet then they are backwards because you are shorting out the input.
The phenomenon is that I get full output level no matter how the pot is turned. It’s as if the signal travels through the pot with no effect.
Left is +/- input for one XLR input whereas outputs are the middle pins
Sorry for the nasty soldering job but I have tried to solder and unsolder way too often

Pin 1 (X) is on the bottom of the picture from post #2, pin 2 (L) is in the middle - make sure you connected it like that.Hmm…seems I‘ve done it right but I’m still unable to control volume
Measure the pot to make sure it’s ok. Both pins 1 and 3, and 1 and 2. 1 and 3 should be constant while 1 and 2 should vary. It looks like the ground for channel A is not connected! That is the issue most likely. The grounds between each pot are isolated so each one must be used.
It appears so and the supposed ground planes aren't connected either, but we can't see the other side of the PCB.The grounds between each pot are isolated
I would jumper all the pots GNDs together.
Frankly that blue & red wire soldering are a mess.
Thank you guys, I got it to work! Problem was the ground plane. I wired it up and it works beautifully now!
