Help with transformer theory and practice

I'd appreciate recommendations for books and other resources that will give me the basics of transformer theory and practice of designing and winding transformers. I know it sounds nutty, but I am starting a DAC project and I would like to design and fabricate my own transformers, including the digital input, I/V conversion, and audio output transformer.

(I couldn't decide if this post belonged in Digital or Everything Else. Moderator: Move it if you see fit.)

YIKES!!!

All 3 have different requirements. Start by reading whatever info that you can glean from Jensen Transformer's site. It may temper your enthusiasm.

I know.....not the answer that you wanted, but the people who make these fo a living have spent years getting to where they are. It is not impossible, just that the learning curve is much steeper than you might imagine.

If you don't believe me, ask someone who tried. I know one guy here who almost went nuts trying. Some will say that he did. [joke].

Hi,

While very interesting, it's not something I'd want to do for a hobby...let alone a job.

Heck, come to think of it, I don't know that many winders who can make an excellent powerxformer.

Cheap ones, yes.😉

Cheers,😉

OK, it might be threadjacking, but anybody have any suggestions on selecting a transformer for AES/EBU signal driving out of a cs8405? Its seems simple enough (famous last words) accourding to CS - TXP to 110ohm resistor to load, and a transformer to provide the isolation and back to TXN. I need guide dogs here so suggested parts welcome.
