Is it a broken one?
If you do a google search with "AD42712 datasheet" you will not get som many hits. The URL below has this IC mentioned. I'll guess someone with an old databook may help you.

Yeah peranders, I tried for 4 hrs yesterday with no luck, anyone on Google that has them, does'nt say what they are. And there's no data anywhere on the web.
All I know they are dual 8 pin dil, and are about 10 years old, so a sub from today would have to sound better. Look at my other post in Digital for more info.

Thanks Netlist, but that cross ref no. is even more obscure than the AD42712.
I have a feeling that it could be a Sony opamp as it is used in a couple of their heavy weight players from the mid 90's. I realy hate this as I've always found my search for odd semiconductors in the end, but this ones got my measure.
Oh, one of the google sites mentioned, (if you can belive it) that it was especially made for the US military. Whats it doing in the Teac. spying on me?
Cheers George
