hey guys,
i've been reading a lot in this forum and i enjoy every word in it.
my friend has an old pair of jamos - power 500, but the rubber surround of the woofer was torn, so he has thrown them away.
he asked me if i'll be able to fix them for him.
my problems come with choosing the drivers - they were 10", with very high sensitivity (94 db 1w/m) and the speaker enclosure is around 128 litres.
since i cannot find someone selling the original drivers, i need your help with fitting new ones, preferably ones i can buy within the EU (GB or Germany will be fine)
thank you guys

First a few questions.
Did you measure them (size)? (do you Google?)
Do you know what to do for a replacement (impedance, xover and all)?
Did you call Jamo for a replacement?
Because it says it's a 12" for that reference you give...
Jamo Power 500 technical specifications - Jamo Power CBR

I can give you a series of 10"/12" woofers for that size of enclosure but what's the point?

acctually, i contacted someone working at the jamo office in Bulgaria, but he told me he couldn't help me, because they only deal with current models.
the x-over frequency is 1000 hz, and i don''t know what the impedance is.
when i measured the cabinets, the original is 10", but there's a chance of fitting 12" speaker there

I understand.
You may try go forward then.
I would advise you to contact a repair center first.
You can ask for the surrounds yourself from the Internet. (I can give you the details later.)
If you don't find one (repair center) go ask to the big guys, where they send their JBL's (and expensive PA/professional equipment) for the replacements of new cones, coils and surrounds. There's always someone doing that job.
Ask the Jamo office in Bulgaria.

I think you are confusing size of cone and baffle hole (about 10"/250mm) and driver size 12"/300mm. I have some even older Jamo 12" and they appear to be Peerless OEM versions of their Blue Line PA drivers.

The Power 500 is a 30 year old speaker, investing a lot of money in them is a hobby for the fun of it not something that is done do get good sound for little money?

Sure you can get good results by buying a pro driver from EuropeAudio or other vendors. But to find the right driver from Beyma, Eminience, RCF... and get it to work well in that box and crossover is a major undertaking. And then you have spent at least 200 Euros on those old boxes. I would either buy/build new loudspeakers or put in som decent second hand 12" drivers and use the midrange and tweeter attenuator to get a sound to my liking.

my point was to ask if someone already did what i'm trying to do here - to find a set of speakers that will fit in the cabinet, maybe reducing some of the internal volume, tweeking the xover and finishing a pair of decent sounding speakers. i am constantly checking the second hand offerings, contacted every dealer in the country, but still no results.
thank you guys, anyway

Never mind,
You can also do it yourself, if you have the guts.😉
Good Hifi's speaker rings - foam, rubber and fabric for more than 3000 speakers.
