I have been asked to setup a new pa fpr the country club. we are keeping all the existing speakers and wire in place, but we need a new amp. We already have a few wireless mics, and wired mics. I know I can't just come out of the amp (speaker output) to a buss barr and hook up like 17 speakers. I heard something about I can do that if I get a 70 volt amp? am I on the right track. I need to do it as cheap as posible. under $500. please help me out.

Might need a little more detail about "existing speakers and wire in place".

Is there already a 70V or 25V distribution system wired or are they all 8R speakers?

Or to put it another way: Are there transformers attached to the back of the speakers themselves?

Get some pictures of the existing distribution system and we can figure out what they have and what you need.

There are several 25/70v systems on the market and there are 70v transformers so you can use "conventional" amps...

But unless we know the requirements we can't suggest a solution.

First of all , the 'existing speakers' need to be checked. If this is a regular golf course of some size, with outdoor speakers, the system must be at least 70V, - 100V systems are/used to be common over here....
Furthermore I'd expect to use more than one amplifier in order to split up zones / areas.
