Help with icepower ASP 1000 monoblock build

I have a pair of asp1000 monoblocks boards on the way with built-in power supplies. After reading the owner's manual, I am overwhelmed. It seems shielding, Twisted wires, extra aluminum plates for shielding, and even placement on how you turn or physically set the amplifier is hyper-critical about picking up noise. I originally planned to just drop these in a custom-made exotic wood enclosure and place them right behind the speakers. I'm now wondering if that's not possible. The little Sure / Wondom amplifiers don't even need an enclosure. Are these icepower amplifiers that terribly critical? Is it worth the effort, Wendy sure amps are basically plug-and-play play?

In my experience they are not picky at all. I have mine stuffed into quite tight alu boxes for a pair of mono blocks. 2 other friends have had them lying open on the floor. Dead silent. No problems at all. Sound was great.

I think that if you want to see those 117 dB of clinical SNR you might have to go to some length to achieve that.

So just fire them up - nothing to worry about at all. I have had mine for a long time (>10 years?) and so have my friends - no problems. And they take some punishment - I have shorted them and taking a lot of power out of them - no active cooling, just screwed to the box.

Have fun!

I did actually use RF suppressing ferrite on the mains inlets which sometimes are incorporated in the mains cables for e.g, a printer etc. like a snake that just had a meal - they fit into the box so - why not. My friends used them without I think. But a choke is an inductor right - thats something else... not used.

Be aware of that they are a bit lower impedance (8k) that usual power amps so you need proper driving to get the best out of them.

I can I need some advice on the best way to go about getting volume control for these asp1000 amplifiers. I've read about the high input impedance. I use a computer for my source playing Flac, wav or hi-res audio files. I'm using a very simple dongle Style USB DAC that sounds okay. I have choices, but do not know what my best bet is. For Simplicity, it would seem I should just buy a better desktop DAC, such as and smsl M500 and use the volume control knob on front. Or any other DAC with a volume control for that matter. I know I can use my volume control the USB. Provides through the keyboard on my computer. But with amplifiers this powerful oh, I figure I should have a volume control to prevent issues. My second option would be to purchase a regular preamp. This would be the most expensive option, as I would something at least as good as the Schitt Freya +, and that is $900! I would still need a decent DAC upgrade. The last way I could go, is something like an all tube gain stage. I would still need a DAC, but a simple gain stage kit should only be a few hundred at most. The other two options I can think of, would be the pass B1 buffer clone kit preamp for 150 dollars, but I don't know if it would play nice with a high input impedance of the icepower amp. The most simple and cheapest route, would be be sure digital volume control option. But I do not know how high fidelity that would be. I could really use some help. I've been out of this Hobby for about 10 years now. I feel a bit lost and appreciate everyone who has helped so far.

The issues I spoke of in the above post about using the computer for my volume control, is occasionally I would get a full volume blast of noise when doing this the last time I did this. With this much power, I could kiss some of these Accuton ceramic drivers bye-bye!
