Hi
Took me a while to figure this out too...
By default, when you post a reply to any thread, you get "subscribed" to that thread and will receive daily email notifications.
To avoid this when posting a reply (not a quick reply), look down in the "additional options". There's an option there for Thread subscription - Notification type.
To change the default behavior:
a) Go to your control panel (the "User CP" link at the top of the page)
b) In the left menu bar, choose "Edit Options" under "Settings & Options"
c) Look for "Default Thread Subscription Mode" under "Messaging & Notification"
To get rid of all the existing subscriptions:
a) Go to "User CP" as above
b) In the left menu bar, choose "List Subscriptions" under "Subscribed Threads"
c) Tick all the ones you want to get rid of and choose "Delete Subscription" in the "Selected Threads" dropdown below the list
Cheers - Godfrey

Also, in s thread under "Thread Tools" is an option to Unsunscribe (or Subscribe).
Each notice email has, at the bottom, a link that will unsubscribe you from that thread.
