Help with crossover points please with CD10Fe, 12-250TC & 18XB

Hi all,

I have just put a system together with the following drivers.

2 x CD10Fe
2 x 12-250TC
1 X 18XB

I was originally going to just run just the two 12-250s with the Fane XB but I felt there was something missing from the very high top end. Now I have added the Beyma CD10Fe I am finding things a little harsh when I am trying to colour it a bit for a warm vintage sound.

Current crossover points which seem the most balanced so far are

18XB // 25.4hz BW24 - 122.1hz LK24
12-250TC // 122.1hz LK24 - 7.82hz LK24
CD10Fe // 7.82hz LK24 - Bypass

Has anyone got any other recommendations of other ones I can try?

Thanks

That is a high crossover point for a 12", let alone narrowing dispersion past 1.2khz.

I found the 250tc needed no hf boost, but you do need to knock the 1-4khz down.

With 24db, you can run the beyma lower, but the crossover point may be an audible issue for you (warm vintage sound).

With the 250tc, i found eq presence region, then sit off axis.

But, good luck !!

Crossing actively that high, maybe a real motorola piezo can work.

Thanks for the advice. I play a lot of dub reggae which usually works the highs a lot and even though I like the 250TCs I feel like that some of the really high notes are missing a bit of life.
As you have pointed out the 1-4khz do need reigning in a bit and I am still playing with that regions on my parametric eq in my dsp. Can you remember how many db you dropped it by?
