I heartily recommend Wayne J's D3's. VERY good speakers for the price, 150 bucks all told. A friend made them and they sound marvelous, crisp mids and surprisingly deep bass. If $200 is your limit for a pair, I really doubt there is anything much better than these, especially considering his plans are quite detailed. Check out the link below if you're interested.

BTW, these are 4 ohm nominal speakers, but I'm fairly certain Yamahas are up to the task, they seem to still be on the ball these days. My buddy's Harman Kardon is 85 watts per channel and doesn't warm up any faster than with 8 ohm speakers.

For main channels of home theater, powered by Yamaha amp, 75w rms into each speaker. I'm thinking 5"-6" woofers.

If you had $200 to spend on the woofers, tweeters, and crossovers combined, what would you get?

Something based on the CSS WR125 http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=WR125ST
Not much tweeer needed for those.

You could also have a pr of Fostex FE167s in that price range, no tweeter or XO required.

There is lots of talk on all 3 of these on this forum.

Couldn't find the exact tweeters at parts express (Vifa D27TG-45-06), although they do have a few Vifa tweeters with almost the exact same part #...perhaps a typo in the Wiki post? Or has that model of tweeter been discontinued? Replaced by a new model?
