Hi I have just registered with this forum,
I'm looking at modifying my Cambridge Audio D500SE CD player. Is anyone willing to help with answering questions and giving advise etc.
The first mod im looking at is to run the analog output stage and at +/- 15V instead of +/-5V. This stage has its own power supply tapped from the main transformer. I think 5V was used only because the transformer has a 6-0-6VAC secondary and a 2nd one or a multi tapped one would increase costs. This stage is basically 2 NE5534's per channel with the usual fedback loops and filtering, nothing special as far as I can see.
Would I expect better "sound" if I done the above mod. I can send the circuit diagrams if required.

Higher Analog Supply Voltages
Hi, I guess you will need a 2x 18V centertapped transformer for the analog supply. This will give you about 1,4 x18 = +/-25V raw DC-voltage. Or 2 x 15 V transformer will give +/- 21 V raw DC-supply.
This can be further stabilised to +/- 15V.😉
