Hello all
I'm thinking of modding one of the two items available from ebay;
Vacuum Tube PreAmplifier Update Version Brand New XiangSheng Improved 728A
OR
Music Angel Marantz 7 Modified Hi-End Valve Tube Pre-Amplifier 6Z4 6N2 6N1
The problem is that I do not know the capacitor values for any of these items (uf) and (VDAC)
I have emailed the sellers but have not recieved any response yet.
If anyone on here could help, it would be great.
Thanks

Modifying (improving) or just changing some of the capacitors ?
Are present components bad ? How have you observed that ?
And how do you evaluate that new componets are better than existing ones ?

Well they are cheap chinese pre-amps, so I assume the omponents cannot be that great. I am looking to replace the caps with Elna Cerifine/Silmic II which I have used in previous modifications and that I like the sound of.
I'm not looking for a discussion on the matter, just the capacitor values of the above preamps if anyone can supply me with them.
Thanks

Trying to find out the values before I buy the item(s) so that I know what will fit. The Elna's mentioned above only go up to 100V.
I got the values of the XiangSheng from the seller, so one down...

In most circuit positions a cheap capacitor will work as well as an expensive one. In some circuit positions a cheap one may be better. In Chinese amps the main problems can be with transformers and valves, and general safety issues - and sometimes a daft circuit.

If they're dishonest enough to be willing to steal someone's trademark, how can you have any confidence that they won't also steal from you?
Well the
2) supposing you were right, "improving" 2% of parts will still leave you with remaining 98% cr*p (by your own definition) .... a perfect waste of money.
3) if you want good, buy good from the beginning, and pay what it's worth.
