What could be the cause for an amplifier to distort when the volume increases?
I reduced the feedback in this amp which increases distortion, but I would think that you get higher distortion all the time.
It distorts the sound only during a crescendo; when the normal level of the signal resumes, it sounds fine.
Any ideas?

You reduced the Feedback-resistor
Is that what you mean?
You have then REDUCED the GAIN of amp.
In that case you have INCREASED the feedback.
You might need to Increase the feedback capacitor.
I do not know if it is like keeping the RxC
the same as before.
So if you half the resistor
you double the capacitor.
The one that is in parallell with the feedbackresistor.
But I think that it could help.
😕

Just a quick thought, more likely wrong than right, but is your PSU able to provide the full current that your amp needs to drive it properly?
