I have my Diyaudiostore Slim 2U chassis assembled, and I need to locate my ICEpower 500ASP modules and my DSP.
I have read that a symmetric location it's better, but from a cable routing point of view, and according to the module's datasheet recommendations (regarding cable locations) it is better to fit one it horizontal position and another in vertical position.
Another thing IDK how to do it is, the ICEpower 500ASP has an unregulated +/-12v output which I would like to use for my DSP, but... do you recommend to fit a regulator between them? Any recommendations?
This is my first DIY amp so I have tons of stuff to learn, oh and... yes... I should I have bought a 500A module and not 500ASP, but believe it or not, the 500ASP was at the same price...
Please keep in mind that this will be used for subwoofer amplification in a home theater setup, so no critical listening for me.

I am planning the following scheme...

-.Red = AC 220volts to power amps and DC +/-12 unregulated to power DSP.
-. Purple = input from LFE output
-. Green = DSP output to amplifier input
-. Blue = amp output to speakers
All cables properly twisted, and maybe shielded.
any plans/thought about cooling...just passive or fan cooled?
Passive cooling... i have a fully vented top panel, and sincerely I don't push my subwoofers to much, so i think this amps wont break a sweat with my standard usage...
Worst case scenario I will fit thermally conductive pads between the amp's heat sinks and the base plate (which is steel, not that thermally conductive, but better than nothing), but for starts I will use standoffs and hope the little air running thru there will be enough.
would you even need pads? looks as though the transistors are isolated from the sink so my thought would be simply heatsink compound between the heatsink and base plate, no?

Pads are cleaner in that perforated base... but true... I could just use thermal paste...
sorry i guess being an old soundman means my thinking revolves around "how hot is this thing going to get when i push it to the limit!"

I switched from a Behringer NU3000DSP with fan mod because I was tired that the sub amp was noisier than my HTPC! So I opted for (what I think it will be) a quiter, passive amp... let's hope the ICE power lives to the expectation.
Right now, to power my subwoofer and bass shakers, I am using a Vocopro Feather AMP Fa-500 which uses an ICEpower 125ASX2 and I hasn't turned on the fan even once... so I hope the 500ASP can equal that.
